This blog is about the process of drawing. The content is developed by Adriana Burgos who is an artist and college art professor. Most of the work posted here is her own and the content of the posts include insight into the artist’s intent, a specific drawing process or a specific technique. To enrich the content on this blog, the author has added a featured artist page which focuses on drawings by artists in different art and design fields, thus highlighting the importance of drawing by offering insight into the artistic process of other artists.

About the author

Adriana Burgos was born in Tegucigalpa Honduras in 1968. She grew up in El Salvador and Costa Rica in a bi-cultural home, her father being Salvadoran and her mother American.

Her family moved to Costa Rica when she was seven and lived in CATIE (an agricultural research and academic center) due to her father’s job. The community there, was international and that experience influenced her greatly as an individual.

Adriana earned a BFA degree in Graphic Design from the University of Costa Rica and worked several years as a graphic designer after graduating. While working as a graphic designer, she exhibited drawings, paintings and photographs in several group shows and had a solo exhibition in 1995. In 1996, she moved to Savannah to attend the Savannah College or Art and Design where she obtained an MFA in painting.

In the year 2000, Adriana won first place in Miami University’s Young Painter’s competition and was later invited to exhibit at their campus. Since then, she has also exhibited in several group shows including “The Luster of Silver” (contemporary metal point drawings) exhibition at the Telfair Museum in Savannah.

Currently Adriana resides in Rincon GA with her husband Mariano Herrera and two sons, Nicolas and Felipe.
